Entobel

Vietnam

Entobel is a biotechnology company specializing in the production of insect-based ingredients for animal feed, pet food, and organic fertilizers. Founded in 2013 by Belgian entrepreneurs Alexandre de Caters and Gaëtan Crielaard, Entobel uses Black Soldier Fly (BSF) larvae to upcycle low-value biomass into high-quality protein, oil, and fertilizer products.

As of 2026, Entobel operates one R&D center and one industrial-scale production facility in Vietnam as well as a pilot facility in Indonesia. Entobel has proven that it is possible and profitable to meet the growing global demand for sustainable feed ingredients.

By 2050, consumption of protein is projected to increase by approximately 75% as the global population continues to rise. Aquaculture – as the fastest-growing animal protein sector globally due to its resource-efficient ways of producing animal protein – is expected to plug the protein gap. The aquaculture industry will have to become more sustainable to reach its full growth potential, as it currently relies heavily on fishmeal, which causes over-fishing and a significant biodiversity loss in the world’s oceans.

Entobel is committed to becoming the world’s lowest-cost producer of insect protein. Its journey reflects a powerful combination of bold vision, continuous innovation, and disciplined execution.
